need help w/ tandem axle trailer |
Lead | |
|
Just purchased a new P4 with tandem axle trailer. I cant figure out how it works. I have jacked the front axle up enough to slide in the bars and the wheels
are still touching the ground. I will try the block method next. Do you back the rear tires onto the blocks or pull the front axle onto the blocks? Do the bars
slide straight back on do you flip them over before sliding them back?

You must pull the front wheels up on the blocks to compress the springs, and engage the tongue on the POP axle sliders.

I used a floor jack to raise the axle, the bars are engaged and the tires are still touching. I also raised the trailer jack up all the way and the tires still touch. |

The front wheels will maintain a slight amount of contact with the ground, though it will be significantly easier to move the trailer around by hand.
Also, rasing the jack stand up will promote some additional relief on the front tires with the pop-axle engaged. |

Once you jack the nose wheel up, there should be no contact.
