Won my first tourney out of the Sabre today |

WOOOHOOO!!!!! we won going away more than 3lbs ahaed of anyone else today!!!! Out ran a 2 R boats getting to our fist hole. We were running right at 60mph
with two 200 lb plus anglers and more tackle than we need with full gas tank. I do have a problem those I seem to be hitting the rev limiter when running wot.
The motor will cut out on me and them pick back up. My jp is about 1/2" above level. Do I need to lower it? It is a 2007 sabre and 2007 150 optimax. It
has done this twice with me so far on high speed runs. I do not have a smartcraft gauge so not sure what the water pressure is. I really think it is hitting
the rpm limiter as I am right at 5800 everytime it has done it. Oh I am turning a 23 tempest prop.

We think a 24 would solve your rev limiter.

From everything I read the 23 was the way to go? would dropping the motor to level plates not take care of it?

If you are hitting hte rev limiter, yours is a bit stronger than some may be in the heat we have now. Summer has finally arrived!
Lowering the engine may fix the limiter, though be less efficient. We would borrow a 24 Tempest and give is a spin to see how it works. |

could I be trimming up to high and losing water pressure? will that cause a shutdown?

rev limiter causes the shutdown

I run a 24 Tempest on my 08 Sabre / 150 Optimax. Right now I am turning 5400-5550 RPM's depending on my load. In cooler weather it will turn a little over
5600.

what kind of speed are you getting?

YES trimming the Sabre to high can cause you to hit the limiter with the 23, at least my old 2007 150 Opti would hit the limiter with one person, full load and
overtrimmed. If you overheat, or lose pressure it will be a long constant beep and the guardian system will shut you down to 2K or less RPM's. Hitting the
limiter is just a short beep and cut out, not shut down. My Sabre FTD really runs best with the trim guage a tick or two over half trim, NOT all the way up. I
could not run my 150 1/2" above level plates and keep 15 PSI of water pressure with the Sabre FTD (without plugging upper holes).
I am currently running a 24 Tempist on a 175 PROXS and I am right at the 6K limiter with one person aboard, if you are not getting an overheat I would at least try a 24 to get those RPM's down cause you are going to get into "extreme over rev" codes in the ECM this winter when fishing alone if you are hitting it with a full load and two aboard with summer temps. Remember everytime you hit the limiter the ECM is storing that info!!! Congrats on the win!!! |

I don't think I am overtrimmed the rooster tail is no higher than the cowling when at wot trimmed enough to hit the 5800rpms. Not sure about the
waterpressure ( I plan on getting the smart monitor soon). I normally do not go that fast just to conserve fuel but in a tourney blast off you got to get out
front lol. Never heard the beep it cut out on me and then I just started back up so really not sure which i am getting an. I did not notice what the rpms were
when it cut out or when it picked back up. Sorry I was a little busy with all the boat traffic around.

John I just reread your post and I think what you are saying is an overheat would shut it down and not let it go above 200rpm until it cools? If that is the
case that is not what it is doing because it will imediatly pick right back up.

Congrats on the win!! I got Second Sunday in my sabre; however, we just got lucky. I didn't pass anyone because i was conserving gas to make a 60 mile run
in a high river flow situation. They are lucky I was conserving gas because I would have been pass some people

It pays off if he got even close to his money back. Jeremy's father belonged to a local club that had a couple of people known for making a run. Those runs
would often become topics of conversation among members about them being worth the amount taken.
Though if you win or recoup you funds to some degree the benefit is offset. How much does it pay to finish out of the money one spot, and the risk is worth the reward. The points, placing and recovery of any funds expended on lures, fuel and entries are a benefit. It is a game of decisions! BCB |

It is not out of the ordinary here in Southeast La. to make those types of runs. All of our waters are connecting in some way shape or form. You can get just
about anywhere from anywhere if you are willing to burn the gas. It does pay off at times and its always funny to listen to others say things about it just
because they didn't place so they feel the need to justify it by saying "it ain't worth it. It cost him more in gas than winnings." Then at
the end of the year thier on the outside looking in. I am guilty of this from time to time myself. But, I've been on the winning side of a time or two as
well.
I agree with BCB on this one. Chris Coupel Paulina, La. |

I have heard about several of the beyond bear creek runs in a club tournament!!
The tournament circuit, I'm fishing this year is made up of some of the best in Arkansas (just ask dbasketman and Ward). This is my first year with this trail and I'm still proving to myself that I can compete with this caliber of anglers. So to me, this run was worth it even if I would have lost money. I was on some really nice fish and I knew I had to go fish them to compete. It was a big gamble and it paid off this time. Next time , I might not be so lucky!! Several anglers that did the same run did not weigh-in much fish. I will make a long run and loss money as long as I know that the fish I'm chasing will allow me to have the best potential to win or place high. . |

three hours where they are than to fish eight where their not. If you really think about it, who's gambling!
