2005 Basscat Puma with 05 Evinrude 225 HO with hydraulic jackplate and have recently moved to Florida where the lakes are at most 5 feet deep (usually less). I'm looking to have a faster holeshot to avoid dragging bottom. Currently I have a Trophy Plus 28 pitch that I'm running which can take up to 6-9 sec to get up on plane with just me and partially filled (1/2) livewell and tanks. However in the weeds..... I almost didn't get up on plane or with tournament load it's pretty slow. WOT is 74 mph at 5600-5700 rpm with some light chop and wind against me (15mph or so). I was running a Bravo 1 26 pitch which worked pretty good to get up on plane and would still run lower 70's in the 5800-6000 rpm range but now d/t low water, while loading boat I kind of tore that prop up and since sold it to a prop shop and am looking to get a new prop. The Trophy plus vs Fury. The Mercury website prop selector suggested both of these props in a 26 or 27 pitch. As long I as I'm running lower 70's I'm not that concerned about going any faster, but if I can have even better top end and holeshot....then why not? I have had the boat at 76.6 mph but don't know the rpms off hand and that was with the 28p trophy. Any thoughts? (or tricks to faster holeshot)
