Posts: 8 Jul 15 12 8:36 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : oil alarm, full throttle, full trim, 2000 mercury 200 efi, 1999 basscat pantera iii My oil alarm sounds off if I run at full throttle with the engine trimmed up. I have gone 10 miles at 3/4 throttle with no issues, but when I trim it up and really push it, it will sound off and I have to shut down. Once I shut down for a minute or so and start it back up, no alarm. I have taken the engine cover off and the reservoir is full, as well as the large tank next to the batteries. I am wondering if it is a sensor? or maybe with it trimmed up, I'm cutting off supply? Any thoughts would be helpful. The motor is on a 1999 BassCat Pantera III. Posts: 3196 Jul 15 12 9:15 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Do you have a BP 101 Super Dash? If so, the "oil" will flash when the engine is off, and be solid when running. It may be an overheat or possible water in the filter. Have you changed out fuel lines to the "ethanol resistant" line? You may be over trimming and not have enough water pressure. If you have a water pressure gauge, you should be running at least 15 psi at wide open throttle. May need a trip to the shop if these other things check out...good luck.

Posts: 8 Jul 15 12 10:01 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I do have the BP 101. From what I'm reading, it could be the rev limiter as well. I haven't switched the lines out yet. Planned on that this fall. I'm going out again tomorrow and will watch the water pressure, I may just be trimming too high, but water is always coming out of the port on the engine. It usually happens around 5800 rpm's.

I ran 90s models of EFIs for years on my Sabre, Pantera II and Eyra of those years, 1990s. No rev limiters back then! I think it did happen around y2k. If so, the limiter is probably around 5750. Might Google the specs on that year model...

Posts: 236 Jul 16 12 10:23 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Wouldn't the rev limiter be a intermittent beep as opposed to a continuous beep......if it had a rev limiter If I remember correctly on the 99 2.5L 200 I used to have the oil warning had two inputs, one on the oil tank and one on the pump drive shaft. I think these as well as the temp probe in the head were tied to the same warning box on the motor. I could be wrong on that though... On a side note, until your sure of its oil or not you might consider running premix until you get it sorted out. That engine won't last long if its not properly injecting oil especially at high rpms. Posts: 8 Jul 20 12 12:56 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I do have one and it was only at 7 lbs. that's what triggered me to take it in. It wasn't the oil alarm, it was the overheat alarm. It would only go off when I was trimmed way up because it wasn't sucking enough water. When I had it trimmed down there was enough water forced into it, so it wouldn't overheat.
