Posts: 233 Aug 16 12 11:44 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Fly, just returned from eight days of fishing off Hilton Head Island. Towed my CC and only got around 11 mpg vs 14. Don't know what happened that the flatter land did not produce better mileage vs mountain terrain. Did not run much over 68mph. Still towed like as dream. I will note that I discovered my gas gauge was not functioning properly once going over half full on my boat. I had it spewing out the top with none ethanol before I left and it added much to load towed. Thank goodness my Yami 150 fourstroke sips gas. OPEC loved me last week.. golfen

I never use it in any of my vehicles, and I live in Iowa....ironic??? It just doe not make sense even considering the environmental aspects. We make more greenhouse emisions making that gallon of alcohol than we make burning a gallon of non-ethanol fuel......go figure???? I'll just wait for the corn lobbiest to start sending threats!!!!!!!!! Bill

We see it all the time in our industry and no we are not cleansing the environment when all factors are considered. Actually polluting more, it's just dispersed around some.

I will be able to post some better figures as am making a 1000 mile turn around for the WCBCOI. So between towing the PII, two lardo's and all sorts of stuff we will never use I will provide some numbers.

Posts: 233 Aug 17 12 5:04 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have 17k miles on truck now and was towing a little over 5000 lbs/. I had done much better until this trip averaging around 14 in hilly terrain. I had a full tank of gas in boat which holds 60 gallons. Air filter was clean. I may run it in and have it checked because I was in no hurry going or coming this trip and did not push truck like I normally would drive pulling my bass boat to a tournament. I am going to pull my bass boat up to Lake Douglas this Sunday and I will have another opportunity to check mileage while towing. golfen

When I got home, I was getting 17.3 MPG. It's about a 500 mile trip counting in the city driving to eat and shop. No major climbing. I ran it like I should. Cruise set at 55 intil i got to 4 lane then 65. There and back.

Posts: 157 Aug 17 12 9:37 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I will take either one! I have a Raptor with a 6.2 and get AT BEST, 9 with the cougar on the hitch. Towed a friends 33 foot pontoon and got 7! I agree on the Ethanol thing. Complete BS, burn corn instead of gas or natural gas! Milton

Posts: 13 Aug 17 12 10:01 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	For you guys considering the Ford ecoboost watch your rear axle choice.The 3.55 seems to be the best option for fuel milage and towing combo.The 3.73 has the highest tow weight rating I think it is 11,300 pounds,but there is a drop off in gas milage of around 2 mpg.I run a Ford dealership and have lots of feedback on the motor with most all extremely pleased with their trucks,but an occasional complaint of milage not up to advertised 23 mpg.All of these have been with fx4 package or truck with 3.73 rear axle.I think the 2013 will only be availible with a 3.15 or the 3.55 and that will take care of that issue.Great truck and motor and looks great with a bass cat behind it.

So will 3.55 be the standard on F150's with EcoBoost 2WD? If not what is the MSRP if it's an upgrade option? Now that is getting it direct from a Ford man. Thanks!!!! Firemanmdm, Dang, 17.3 mpg towing a boat. 500mile trips more then impressive. Wow!!!! If and when I get my next truck it will be simple knock around but needs to be SuperCrew. Love my current F150 and will keep it a while longer. Think I may wait for the 2013's.

I also have the electric locker that I have yet to use but got it just in case. I will say I have the Nav and didnt want it really but couldnt find a white FX2, wanted it to go with my boat. Now that I have the Nav, it was almost Worth the money for the screen size to go with the rear view camera. Thats truly cool squeezing my Cat into the garage. Steve "Gunz" Molina

Just got to get her some type of ladder to get in. After pulling (her) center console last week we could not tell Sabre was behind us. I'll take 13.5 mpg , hilly terrain towing. Best gas towing motor out dar'. , golfen

Posts: 244 Aug 18 12 7:56 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I just got a F150 4x4 with the 5.0 V8. It has been doing 16.5-17 average running around here in the hills, which is great! I haven't pulled with it yet, but will soon. It has the 3.55 ratio and I am very pleased with it thus far. I drove an ecoboost, but liked the low end better with this 5.0 V8. Both are great choices. Just depends on each individual. However, don't be afraid of the 5.0 V8. It is solid too!
