Posts: 275 Aug 20 12 3:02 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Looks like I'll be coming down to Sam Rayburn for the Bassmaster Weekend Series championship in November. I know alot of you guys live in Texas, while I'm here in North Carolina. I'll be coming as a non-boater, so there's no boat in-tow to worry about. Can you guys suggest some lodging options? I'd appreciate it.

There are other lodging options like Rayburn Country and even in Jasper, TX there are excellent chain motels. There are good tackle areas at the lake, as well as in Jasper, and you can pretty much decide on one of many options. You probably will have to go to Jasper for pairing most likely. I enjoyed my co angler trip at that one. Take plenty for gas money and be ready for BIG water. Umphrey is a long way from everything you might fish 'cept the dam. Posts: 275 Aug 21 12 7:32 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I am a nut about clean. I like a very clean room to stay in. I fished a BFL at Buggs about 12 yrs ago. The hotel I stayed at I chose because it had sliding glass doors where I could back the boat right up to the doors for easy unloading and loading and battery charging. I went to bed that evening, but woke about 10:30pm, cracked an eye to the sliding glass door, and there was a spider the size of a dang softball hanging on the face of the door about half way up. I slowly grabbed me a shoe and started over to him, but he saw me coming and made a diagonal dash for the door track at the base of the door. Believe it or not, that big dude beat me to the track and he wedged himself under the door where I couldn't get to him. Nervous as a cat, I sat down on the bed to think about what I needed to do. I reached over to get a swig of coke out of a drink I'd been drinking before I went to sleep, and dang it, there was a big ole roach sitting right there on the can tab. I slept with both eyes open for the rest of the night. That got me so worried that, at the Potomac a couple years ago at the Bassmaster Regional, I had rented a cabin. I went in and checked for spiders. I looked under the bed rack, and you'd never seen so many big brown spiders. I thought, here we go again. So to solve my problem this time, I went to the Wal-Mart some 30 minutes away, bought me a one man tent, and pitched a tent on top of the bed inside the cabin....problem solved. Yep, I camped inside. Just looking for good and clean.......I'll be more than happy to pay more for it. Its worth it.

Posts: 21 Aug 21 12 8:19 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	You need to call Rayburn Country. They have motel rooms for around $80 per night. They are only a few minutes from the dam. Very clean and new. Don't stay at the Bass Buster if you like clean.

Posts: 232 Aug 22 12 7:09 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Janes's Shady Acres. 936-897-2692. It's right by Cassels Boykin state park by the Hwy 147 bridge. It's a mom and pop deal and they have alot of trailers they rent out. Good prices. Was very clean...I stayed in one earlier this year for a BFL. Folks were real nice. Good parking, kinda off the road, so not as much worry about vandals and such, but I always bring my stuff in. It's a trailer, so you've got a full kitchen. That way, you can bring and cook your own stuff and not have to spend 20$ each time you go to a restaurant. The Stump restaurant is about the only thing close to there eating wise. Good food and not terrible prices, but after several days that stuff piles up. I always like bringing stuff to cook. If you are launching at the dam, you have a 30 min. drive.
